Sept 2012 - Pet Plan Get Their Paws Smacked !!

Pet Plan has become the latest brand to be warned by the ASA for failing to have proper terms and conditions for a promotion. A Twitter messages gave consumers the chance to win prizes if they followed the brand on twitter and retweeted the message: "To celebrate #petdentalcare month we are giving away 10 goodie bags filled full of dental treats.  Follow and RT to win!" #competition"Not only was it not a competition but a prize draw, the ASA has consistently stated that brands must communicate all significant conditions at or before the time of participation. In this case there were no Terms & Conditions of any sort, not even the closing date or how winners would be selected and these should have been made clear before or in the tweet that included details of how to enter.  Because of this, the ASA concluded that the activity breached the CAP Code.  Jeremy Stern, managing director of PromoVeritas commented "This is another example of marketers having a poor understanding of the importance of compliance. We draft terms and conditions for many companies and they cost just a couple of hundred pounds. This could have saved Pet Plan, and others, the time and embarassment of being hauled up in front of the ASA and publicly admonished. While these campaigns appear simple there are lots of opportunities to trip up. It's always worth getting expert advice.

We are working on a number of promotions for official sponsors of the London 2012 Olympics. Consumers can win everything from tickets to VIP packages to a day with Rebecca Adlington !

May 2012 - Aston Martin Given Away as a Prize

A new client, Hackett clothing, wanted to give away this iconic car to celebrate their sponsorship of Aston Martin Racing. The problem was how to run it as a single prize fund across over 18 countries. PV made it all happen and oversaw the judging - with the eventual winner being a very happy Brit.
